Twitter Search – Searching Real-Time Intel

Twitter is an EXTREMELY popular microblogging social network and I highly recommend that you get involved with it if you’re not already. But, a very important component to Twitter is Twitter Search. It provides (obviously) a search function for Twitter. But, Twitter is real-time so you’re basically tapping into the real-time thought stream of the collective Internet.

For example, if I run a search for “PCMech”, I get the following:

I can see all of the latest tweets that mention the word “pcmech”.

If you search for something which is happening right now, such as a current event which is still in progress, you can monitor the conversation in real time. Whenever a new tweet which matches your criteria comes in, you will see a yellow box which tells you how many tweets are pending. You can then refresh the search to see the new tweets.

Using Twitter Search provides real-time pulse of the collective heart beat of the Internet. It is very useful.
