Boot sector virus

I have sort of upgraded my system, but the hard drive appears to have a boot sector virus. I have tried formatting the drive, and installing my O/S but it still seems to be there!!!

Any suggestions as to how to remove it? (Norton tells me there is no boot sector virus)!!!

This could be the fact that you are FORMATTING the drive. formatting does not re-write the boot sector, and so the error will still be there. bear in ind that most Operating Installations say that there is a boot sector error when you try to install them, becuase the boot sector thinks to OS is trying to erase it.

use a program like FDISK, or download DiscWizard Starter Edition (ISO (CD) image or Floppy disks) from

http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/drivers/discwiz.html

this will re-write the boot sector, and your problems will be gone.

if all else fails, and the system works, disable BIOS Boot Virus Protection, as you have Norton!
