Microsoft Edge hasn’t had the support for extensions since its launch. But, with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, users are now able to load up Microsoft’s new browser with extensions. Follow along below, and we’ll show you how!

How to install a Microsoft Edge extension

Installing an extension is easy. First, open up Microsoft Edge, and then in the top right corner, click the menu button. In that list, select Extensions.

You’ll be taken to Microsoft Edge’s Extensions area where it shows you all of your currently installed extensions. To install a new one, you’ll need to get them from the Windows Store. To do this, click on Get Extensions From the Store. You’ll be redirected to a page on the Windows Store exclusively for extensions.

To download and install in, you’ll simply need to find an extension you want by selecting it from the list or searching for something specific.

Next, just click the Get button on the extension’s product page. Your computer will start to download, but you’ll need to turn it on once it’s finished.

To do this, head back into Microsoft Edge. You should see a pop-up telling you you downloaded a new extension. This pop-up will ask for show you the permissions it requires to operate. If you’re OK with those permissions, you simply click the Turn it on button. If not, you can select the Keep it off button.

And that’s all there is to it! Right now, there aren’t a whole lot of extensions for Microsoft Edge since this is mostly a recent addition. But, Microsoft is offering a tool that can easily convert Chrome extensions to Edge extensions. So, we should see a whole lot more hitting the Windows Store soon.
